DolphiniOS – The latest emulator for Nintendo Wii and GameCube

Dolphin is a video game console emulator for GameCube and Wii. The latest version has just shown up, available for iOS, a project developed by Oatmeal Dome.

Even though it’s still in the beginning stages, DolphiniOS allows a top-speed gameplay on Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and not only. For those that are nostalgic of their childhood times, this emulator will grant their wish and bring the games back to life.

A different way to bring Mario back is by playing the famous Super Mario online casino games. You will find the beloved plumber within the various titles of Poker, Roulette, Blackjack, and slot machines. You can even make a profit while having fun, more like an upgrade to an already fun and childish product.

Emulators from iOS have made significant progress over the past few years. However, a few systems have avoided iPhone gamers, such as GameCube and Wii from Nintendo. While PC, Android headsets, and Mac users have been able to moderately play Wii and GameCube for years, the iPhone did not manage to put out a capable emulator for systems. All until now.

The stable version of DolphiniOS is now available

Oatmeal Dome has just announced the release of DolphiniOS in December 2019. The creators included a warning with the first build of the emulator, stating that it might cause some issues, but one week later, a stable version was already live.

This emulator enables the end-users to play Wii and GameCube games on their iPhone and iPad, although, for this to happen, the device must be jailbroken. It has been reported that it works on devices jailbroken using the checkra1n tool, but also with unc0ver, u0, and Chimera.

How to install DolphiniOS

Before installing this emulator, first remove any DolphiniOS installation, in order to avoid any issues. Make sure to backup essential data before deleting. Then, navigate to https://cydia.oatmealdome.me on your jailbroken iOS and tap “add to Cydia”. The last step requires you to search for and install DolphiniOS.

To add Nintendo Wii or GameCube games to the library, look to the top-right corner to find and tap the “+” sign and select your ROM. If you choose to download games from the Internet, keep in mind to extract the files from the ZIP archives. On iOS 12 and 13 you can quickly share the ROM file to the DolphiniOS app.

How to enjoy DolphiniOS without jailbreaking your iPhone

If you really are curious and want to try this emulator without jailbreaking your iDevice, there is a way and the easiest one is to use checkra1n.

However, checkra1n will not work on newer devices made within the last 2 years. Another option would be to use “unc0ver” or “Chimera” tools, which is a process a bit more complex.

If none of these are suitable to you, you would just have to wait for the developer to get it working on non-jailbroken devices, due to the fact that DolphiniOS is using a certain entitlement that is only available for third-party tools upon jailbreaking.

The Dolphin emulator has brought Wii and GameCube games to Android, Windows, Linux, macOS gadgets and it was about time to stop avoiding the iOS devices. With a little bit of work, iOS users can now enjoy these childhood games from their iPhone or iPads and take a trip to the youth land.
