Sega had sold 9.13 million units of Dreamcast.
The best-selling game of Dreamcast was Sonic Adventure. Sega had sold 2.5 million copies of this game. The Dreamcast launch had been successful. Sony’s PlayStation was the biggest competitor of Dreamcast in North America at the end of 1999. Sega spent about 50 to 80 million dollars on hardware development and about 150 to 200 million dollars on software development and 300 million dollars for worldwide promotion of Dreamcast. It was discontinued on March 31, 2001.
